If they’ve got to have their morning cup of Joe.. and their afternoon one… and their evening one, this travel mug from Contigo will carry them through the day. It keeps drinks warm up to five hours, and it holds a whopping 16 ounces of their beverage of choice (other models of this cup hold up 24 ounces!). If they like things on the cooler side, it will also keep beverages cold for up to 12 hours.
It’s time to get rid of that disgusting, dirty, crumb-infested backpack that your teen has been carrying for four years. Great options from standard-bearers like Jansport or North Face start at $30, while trendier brands like Herschel or FjallRaven can run north of $150. Just remember that whatever you buy will be disgusting, dirty, and crumb-infested four years from now.
One of the problems with taking notes in class is that it takes away from focusing on the lecture.  Some prefer to listen carefully to the lecture while recording it and then re-listen to the recorded notes later annotating key points that they want to remember in their notebook.  Your student can use a Coredy CR-B5 Digital Voice Recorder to record all their notes while they pay attention to the lecture.  It features lossless sound quality, 8 GB internal storage, and up to 32 GB or external storage using an optional MicroSD card.  It can also be connected to a PC to transfer the recording.  Variable playback speed allows your student to slow down the playback to make it easier to copy notes.  Built-in file editing allows your student to manipulate WAV recording files right on the recorder. Bookmarking supports up to 10 bookmarks per audio during playback for easy retrieval of content.  Its double power source design with its built-in 360mAh Li-Ion rechargeable battery gives your student 28 hours of record time or adding a single AAA alkaline battery gives them an extra 14.5 hour of recording time.  It also come with a built-in FM radio that can be recorded, an alarm clock, and a stopwatch.  The Coredy CR-B5 comes with earphones, a USB cable, and a 3.5mm audio cable.  It also has a 1-Year “Worry-Free” warranty. Give the gift that will help your student excel.
It's common for elementary and high school teachers to get bulk gifts for students such as notebooks or personalized pencils, but even at the college level, some instructors like to give their students a little something at Christmas or at the end of a term. Consumable treats are the best bet for student gifts: Providing special in-class snacks like chocolates, cookies, or bags of popcorn can bring a smile to college students' faces and let them know their teachers appreciate their hard work.
43. Smart TV—Make a college student's day by giving him or her a smart TV. These units can connect to the Internet so that a person can directly access Netflix and video-on-demand services as well as social networking and other websites. Iron four white cotton tea towels, then fold and line up in a row. Using a pencil, draw a clothesline across all four towels, starting on the left with spring and ending on the right with winter. Unfold, and continue the design on each towel, adding loopy cursive labels and seasonal details. Stitch using black embroidery floss for the clothesline, clothespins, and clothes. Add images from each season using colorful floss: raindrops for spring, flowers for summer, leaves for fall, and snowflakes for winter.

The K-12 back-to-school shop may have seemed expensive, but the dorm room shop is the one that breaks the bank. The National Retail Federation estimates that families spend almost $900 a year outfitting their students for college. For high school graduates moving into a dorm or an apartment, a gift certificate to Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, or other national retailers will help them to outfit their room. Remind them to look for special in-store college evenings and deep discount coupons before they buy.
A huge part of fitting in at school is what music you’re listening to, and what better gift to give a new student than, well, basically all of it? With access to tens of millions of songs, Spotify is the industry standard for streaming, and a premium subscription unlocks ad-free listening and the ability to download songs onto any device for offline use. It’s the perfect add-on to pretty much any gift on this list.

As apple cider is to fall, hot chocolate is to winter—regular, steaming mugs of that chocolate-y goodness can propel you through the short days and oh-so-long nights of January and February. Laptops are one of the most popular and useful gifts for graduating teens. Some college bookstores have deals that come with tech support but, before you make a final decision, see what student discounts you can get from Apple, Microsoft, and Best Buy. When shopping for laptops, or other items from national retailers, parents should be aware that they can generally use college student discounts even if their student does not yet have a college ID card. Retailers often ask for a college email address that many schools issue over the summer, and some will give discounts with a college acceptance letter. Consumer Reports recommends the Acer Spin 1 which retails for about $250. MacBooks with enough memory and computing power for undergraduates start at about $1,100.

Don't worry about needing to buy the nicest, brand-name, all-leather bag you can find, either; messenger bags and other options might work, too, depending on your graduate's career field and geographic location.

I purchased the XL version of this bag on May, 11 2015 and I have carried it nearly every day since. I bought this to replace a similar messenger bag made by Rapid Dominance, because I was searching for something with a bit more of a vintage style. I researched quite a few different bags before deciding on this particular model. The bag arrived within a few days of my order, it was boxed and bagged inside the box. I was immediately amazed by the quality of the bag. The size was perfect at 17.3". I excitedly began jamming my daily stuff into the new bag. It easily holds my binder, and a variety of small things that I carry daily. I do not use this bag for transporting any type of laptop, so I cannot speak to using it for that purpose.
It’s natural to want to ply your college-bound child with gifts, but one thing to consider is that everything he or she brings to college “must fit in a space slightly larger than a Mini Cooper,” says Harry H. Harrison, Jr., a New York Times best-selling author of parenting books and books about preparing teens for adulthood, including “1001 Things Every College Student Needs to Know.” For that reason alone, it’s best to choose items that are beautiful, practical or a combination of the two .
He shouldn't have to give much thought to where his essentials are when he's trying to catch an 8 a.m. train. This wall-mounted hallway organizer is the perfect spot for his keys, cell phone, and wallet, and when he gets home, he can drop off his mail here until he has time to sort through it — as he becomes all too familiar with the joys of bill-paying!
Gifts for college guys are tough to buy because they seem to bounce from one favorite pastime to the next and even from one fad to another.  Who can blame them?  They’re learning a lot of new things, not just from their studies, but also from their friends.  So the best gifts for college guys are gifts that will stand the test of time and won’t be tossed just because they aren’t the flavor of the moment.
The Roku 4 worked fine for the first 3 months and I was happy with it overall. I wanted a 4k streaming device that supported multi-channel audio. I also wanted a platform that had the widest range of compatibility, so the Roku 4 fit the bill. The menu and controls were more responsive than my smartTV (Samsung from 2013). Netflix and Amazon Prime worked well without any probs. The remote is just ok. I don't like the dedicated channel buttons, especially since I don't use rdio or sling. It would be nice to be able to configure those for channels I actually use.
Power cords may be very modern, but these leather wraps are a throwback to a much earlier era. Combining what our kids love, tech and the big trend towards natural materials, this set of wraps will keep cords from traveling in a large tangled mess. Given that our kids carry their laptops, phones, tablets, and the necessary array of cords everywhere they go, these will be used every day.

Going to college means getting up and motivated for early morning classes, often after a late night of doing what college is really about - homework, right? It’s easy for students to forget to set an alarm, or to select PM instead of AM before passing out, from all that learning. A smart alarm clock can be programmed ahead of time to match their class schedule. On Monday it knows to go off at 7 in the morning, but on Tuesday it lets them sleep it off till 10.
