French presses are a great way to make coffee. With nothing more than water and coffee grounds, you can easily produce a cup of coffee worthy of any Parisian cafe. But until now there have been two big drawbacks: A traditional French Press does not keep coffee warm and the glass carafe is all too easily shattered. Enter the double-wall aluminum French press, which solves both of these problems. This one from SterlingPro is very reasonably priced on Amazon Prime, or we liked the Bodum Columbia in a variety of sizes including a single cup version that makes coffee right in a travel mug. Le Creuset offers a ceramic version (shown) in full array of stunning colors.

School is about to start and college students all over are getting ready for another semester of classes, assignments, activities, and fun. Some are anxious to begin another scholastic time period while others may be lamenting the departure of a lazy summer. Either way, college students could always benefit from a gift or two, and who better suited to give them such gifts than you? So if you’re looking for that perfect gift for that perfect (or maybe not so perfect) college student, check out these 25 Cool Gifts College Students Want This School Season.
If your student is in need of a new laptop, this would be a great gesture. The HP 15  Notebook PC is a great option. It comes with Windows 10 Home, high-definition display, AMD Radeon R5 graphics, HP TrueVision HD Camera, DTS Studio sound and much more. Best of all, HP Has partnered with QVC to offer two exclusive colors; minty green and soft lilac, and will feature this laptop at the lowest price of the season on Saturday, November 26th.
What is a Smart Pen?  It’s the modern way to take notes in class.  Pens like the Livescribe 2GB Echo Smartpen record everything your student writes and hears either together or separately.  They can tap anywhere on their notes taken on Livescribe Dot paper to replay the audio from that exact moment or transfer notes and audio to their Mac or Windows PC for later review, organization, and sharing.  They can even search their notes for fast location of critical sections.  Sharing is easy via email or other services.  They need to use special paper, but that’s a small drawback compared to how helpful this form of note-taking can be to students.  With all the Livescribe Dot paper formats, your student is sure to find one that is best for them including college-ruled notebooks, lined journals, blank journals, mini journals, A5-sized notebooks, grid notebooks, flip notepads, and even sticky notes.  They can even print their own dot paper for free using the Echo Desktop application.  With 2GB of memory, there is plenty of room for notes or audio including up to 200 hours of audio or thousands of pages of notes.  It comes with a 50-page tarter notebook, the Echo Desktop software, a micro USB cable, 2 ink cartridges, and a smartpen cap.  Give the gift that makes the most difficult part of college (other than the tests and quizzes) easier for them.
I love this lap desk. It's the perfect size for my 14" laptop. The wrist wrest keeps the laptop from sliding off and makes typing a breeze. The only quibble I have is that the pull out shelf for the mouse is too slick. My mouse wants to slide off the thing so I often just use the mouse on the top surface with the laptop. It's a tight squeeze and definitely not something you could do with a 15" laptop. It'd be great if they'd use something with less slide, though that might affect how the drawer slides under the desk.

10. Good reads. Rosie Project is an amusing best seller that focuses on a genetics professor and a waitress that's definitely not your typical love story. Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's "Learned" is written by Lena Dunham, star of the HBO series Girls. Redeployment takes readers to the front lines in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

2. Shadow box. Many craft and frame stores offer "shadow boxes": a box that has one side made of glass (made to look like a frame) that you can hang on a wall. Create a special one tailored just for your graduate—with mementos, college insignia, and even sports paraphernalia, if appropriate. As an added bonus, shadow boxes work well in an office or in your graduate's new apartment.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best women’s jeans, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, ultra-flattering pants, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.

10. Business card holder. Your graduate might be working for a non-profit or for corporate America. Either way, they'll probably have business cards they'll want to hand out at conferences, meetings, and other business events. Consider buying a small, nice, classic business card holder—some can even be personalized—as an inexpensive but highly useful graduation present.

So why not pick out something from this 50 gifts for college students under $50 list that you cannot go wrong with? Below are a ton of great options that are useful, motivational, or just super unique and will leave their roomies saying, “Where did you find that?!”
Every year our “tradition” is to do a themed Christmas. My favorite was the year we had to shop at “used” stores. ie – Goodwill, Save & Serve (a second hand store) garage sales, etc. We had a limit of 15 per person. You cannot believe the new stuff with tags still on it that we found for 1.00 – 2.00 or 3.00. My best buy was a set of 10 wood cut houses like FJ Designs that were brand new still in the box for 2.00 each. They still had the price tags for anywhere from 12.00 to 40.00 on it. A store had cleaned out their inventory and we benefited. You can find a lot of things like this at second hand – goodwill type shops and makes your gift giving a whole lot easier on the pocket. I also got a terrific buy on two handmade tall wood stools with swivel tops at a garage sale. I told them what we were doing and that I only had 15.00 to spend and they let me have both stools (oak by the way) for the 15.00. They loved the idea and my son loved the stools. He still has them. 🙂
I often give homemade gifts for Christmas. I make homemade biscotti- almond or chocolate dried cherry and also include homemade hot cocoa mix or Russian tea mix. I have made homemade butterscotch and hot fudge sauce and given them in nice mason jars as gifts. Very cheap to do- buy butter, sugar and cream at Aldi’s. Everyone raves. I have also given wonderful scented soap that I carry home from Florida every year. I have also made Lebkuchen and strudel for gifts. My kids always get lip balm, a toothbrush and a movie pass in their stockings’ – it is a Chrismas tradition. I also go to resale shops and find really neat cookbooks for my daughter. They aren’t high priced and I am recycling them to another cook. I shopped at Sahalie last Christmas and got my DD and DDIL beautiful gloves for ten dollars each- free shipping and no tax!I like to give something that can be used and not end up on the table at the garage sale in a few years.
Herschel Supply Co. Heritage Backpack  Does your teenager need a new backpack, one that would replace his grimy bag filled with crumbs and broken pens? These are trendy in a retro sort of way and come in a host of different designs and colors.  We love the Settlement backpack for around campus, the Little America Backpack for overnight and the Novel bag  for weekends.
Believe it or not, there are toys that make beautiful music. Perfect for all ages, Munchkin’s Mozart Magic Cube inspires creativity and interactive play while teaching how sounds combine to create eight classical music masterpieces by the master composer. With a touch of a button, this interactive cube lets your child add or subtract from any combination of five different instruments, including harp, French horn, piano, flute, and violin.
When it comes to selfies, these lenses for smartphones significantly up that game. They clip right onto your phone and produce shots that look like they were taken with a professional camera. This set comes with three separate lenses, including a wide angle, 180-degree fish angle and 10x macro lens to get the perfect shots every time. They work on most models of smartphones and tablets, and countless satisfied customers say they’re a great way to improve the quality of your pictures for a small price.
Gone are the days of solo cups and ping-pong balls in the fraternity or sorority house basement. But we’re wiling to bet the new grad doesn’t have many sophisticated cocktail recipes up his sleeve. Up his entertaining game with this clever set of four pint glasses. Each one has measurement lines that provide clear instructions for making four classic cocktails.

Baked Goods are always a very inexpensive, tasteful gift to give. I make homemade cookies, cheesecakes, brownies or even pies, depending on who I’m giving them too and if their needing them for an actual occasion or if it’s just a get together during the holidays. This year though, I told my daughter, who’s 24 and my neice who’s 27, all I want from them this year is to get their behinds in the kitchen with me and let me teach them things that I’ve learned from over 30 years of baking. I bake everything from scratch. No store bought pie crusts in my house, EVER! lol I keep telling them that they don’t want to wait until it’s too late to try for themselves, especially now that they are both mothers too and could pass this down to their daughters. Too, Big Lots is a great place to find inexpensive cook books from Food Network Chefs.
Something no student should be without is a multi-tool like the Kelvin 36 K36BLK01-01 Ultra Urban Multi-tool.  In one compact tool, your student will have many basic tools that can help them with everyday tasks like tightening screws, measuring tight spaces, emergency LED, bicycle repair, hanging pictures, assembling furniture, handling DIY projects, and much more.  This model actually includes a corkscrew, bottle opener, utility knife blade, screwdriver that can lock at 90 degrees for extra torque, LED light, liquid level, 6-foot tape measure, alloy magnets, miniature hammer, and 13 double-ended, titanium-coated screwdriver bits including hex, flat, Phillips, and square heads.  Durable construction with a cast aluminum body, zinc bit extender, and hammer surface.  The tool’s handle is made from tough ABS plastic covered with a rubber-touch coating.  This gift will come in handy over and over.

This fan from Vornado helps cool things down while looking ultra cool, and also tunning out noisy neighbors. It’s got a hip, retro feel, designed after the original Vornado Fan from 1945. This one is compact though, measuring just 11.4" x 10.1" x 6.1", so it’s great for small spaces like dorm rooms and apartments. Stylish and functional, it features two-speed settings and a rotating head, and it comes with a five-year warranty.

I know I was always wanting a snack when I was studying late into the night – and popcorn was one that I always turned to. While the bagged popcorn is most convenient, it’s not always the best for you. I absolutely LOVE this microwave popcorn maker from Pampered Chef. They have a small version and a family-sized version, and they are both awesome and super easy to use. I wish I had one as a college student.
“Teeth are super important. Actually, there’s a huge correlation between gum disease and dying, and also, the condition of your gums and your teeth does predict a lot. So you might as well keep it healthy,” says Sachi D., a senior at Smith College who wants what the Cut’s Kathleen Hou called “a game-changing electric toothbrush.” According to Sachi, “I think it’s an underrated thing that people don’t pay attention to, and it’s actually really important … Or maybe I’m just a hypochondriac, and I’m afraid of dying.”
