When the Amazon Echo made its debut, it seemed like a great idea. But the large, expensive gadget was not a great fit for college students. At $49.99 (Amazon Prime) and the size of a small clock radio, the Echo Dot is a much better buy. With voice activation, the Echo Dot can order an Uber, wake you up, get sports scores or the weather, answer your factual questions, and read you an audiobook or podcast. Not surprisingly, it can order anything from Amazon Prime. For college kids feeling particularly lazy, the Dot can do conversions and answer simple math questions shouted from across the room.
Something no student should be without is a multi-tool like the Kelvin 36 K36BLK01-01 Ultra Urban Multi-tool.  In one compact tool, your student will have many basic tools that can help them with everyday tasks like tightening screws, measuring tight spaces, emergency LED, bicycle repair, hanging pictures, assembling furniture, handling DIY projects, and much more.  This model actually includes a corkscrew, bottle opener, utility knife blade, screwdriver that can lock at 90 degrees for extra torque, LED light, liquid level, 6-foot tape measure, alloy magnets, miniature hammer, and 13 double-ended, titanium-coated screwdriver bits including hex, flat, Phillips, and square heads.  Durable construction with a cast aluminum body, zinc bit extender, and hammer surface.  The tool’s handle is made from tough ABS plastic covered with a rubber-touch coating.  This gift will come in handy over and over.
Cooking with fresh herbs makes all the difference, if you can remember to buy them and use them before they spoil. With Back to the Roots Garden-in-a-Can, houseplants become food and basil, cilantro, dill, and sage are never further than the windowsill. Everything needed to grow and maintain the plants (except water) with no mess and no transplanting is in the can.
A few months ago, commuting meant crossing the quad. Now, commuting means walking to the train station and taking a 45-minute ride across state lines. She’s really going to need her daily jolt of caffeine. Ensure she’s fully energized by the time she sits down at her cubicle with this portable espresso maker. A removable top doubles as a cup for maximum enjoyment enroute.
The student life isn’t exactly known for being full of culinary excellence (cue memories of mac and cheese and greasy pizza) and for the student who isn’t as adept in the kitchen, cooking can be intimidating. The Starving Students cookbook is full of page after page of recipes for the new chef, with advice on simple things like how to scramble eggs or make simple vegetarian dinners.
If you purchase this pen, you will need to invest in the notebooks. So far I have not been able to find the notebooks in stores and buying them online is expensive. Their website is cheaper than Amazon, but they also charge shipping. The sample booklet it came with only lasted me half a semester. You also have to buy the ink cartridges (The off brand one works fine!) as I went through three in a semester. I wish someone offered a darker ink, but its alright. They also sell smart pen cases, which I would recommend you... Read more

We got my brother a water bottle, and he was so excited! HydroFlask is a popular brand, but it’s pricey! We LOVE the Simple Modern brand of water bottle. It keeps the water really cold (and your ice sticks around for a long time), but they are half the price. I have the 64-ounce bottle, but there are different ones in a variety of sizes. The HydroFlask lids do fit on them. I bought one of the HydroFlask straw lids, because I prefer that for drinking out of my bottle.
14. A family memento or heirloom. College graduation day is a big day for both your graduate and their family. Consider gifting something that has been passed along in the family—a piece of jewelry, an old book or diary, a photo album, or a piece of military memorabilia, for example—to mark your graduate's transition from dependent student to independent, college-educated adult.
Really excited to get started. I just found Christmas gifts for my twins teacher and their classmates. I have a question though anyone know of a craft to hold a Christmas ornament the kids are making in class they are glass bulbs so my kids are responsible for the individual packaging for them I need 29 by Wednesday. Please help any suggestions :-)

From the smallest stocking stuffers for husbands to the most heartfelt Christmas gifts for Mom, we've got the gifts that will make this year extra special for everyone. Imagine a Christmas season without last minute shopping at crowded stores! Instead, imagine sitting down and having your Christmas gifts wrapped and under the tree with time to spare! So when the holidays roll around, gifts can be a godsend — if they're useful and thoughtful. Those uses can range from fun, like card games, to practical, like noise-canceling headphones for the library, backpacks that can go from class to internship, and a laundry hamper with adjustable straps so they don't have to drag their hamper down the dorm steps.
If you ask any college student, I’m pretty sure they would say that it seems like they have lived on coffee for periods at college and the Hamilton Beach 49980A 2-Way Single-Serve Coffee Brewer and Full Pot Coffee Maker is the perfect, flexible way to provide the go-juice your student needs.  They can save money by brewing their own coffee instead of picking up expensive Starbucks and blowing their scarce cash.  It’s easy to use, even for a college Brainiac, and it has plenty of features and flexibility to make it an indispensable college appliance.  This model actually doubles as both a single-serve Keurig-style coffee brewer for just one 14-oz. serving of great coffee for the student or a full 12-cup carafe coffeemaker for late-night study sessions with fellow students.  It features a non-stick hot plate, automatic shutoff, a built-in programmable clock/timer, and an adjustable single-serve side multi-level cup rest that adjusts to fit all cup and mug sizes.  This will be their go-to gift over and over during their college career.
Smartphones are basically an extension of our arm these days, and when a phone starts dropping below 20%, we’ve all experienced that slight anxiety of a near-death phone. To make sure you never lose connection, Mophie has created a portable power station. It’s slim enough to fit in a back pocket or purse, and each charge will give your smartphone or tablet two new lives.
The pour-over promises excellent, rich taste and robust aroma while maintaining the natural oils of the ground Coffee. For the perfect cup of Coffee, simply fill the cone-shaped filter with freshly ground Coffee and pour a small amount of heated water over them until soaked. Slowly pour the remaining hot water into the filter. Coffee will drip into the mouth-blown, borosilicate double wall glass carafe and, in 3-4 minutes, will be ready to serve. Remove the filter from the carafe before serving and enjoy!
Starting last month, my Roku 4's fan started running constantly and making strange noises that I could hear 2 rooms away. I thought other reviewers were exaggerating about the noise, but it is LOUD. I contacted customer service to report the issue and worked through their suggested steps of rebooting the thing, unplugging it, resetting... Read more
While cleaning might not top their list of fun, it must be done. This Bissell Featherweight stick vacuum makes doing it as easy and enjoyable as possible. It’s super lightweight (just over 2.5 pounds), and it can easily convert from a stick vacuum to a hand vac, so you can reach all the nooks and crannies in every room of your house. The cord is 15 feet, so you can cover a large area, and it works on most surfaces, including carpets, upholstery, and bare floors.
Whether it’s a family heirloom or a new gift, a piece of jewelry can be deeply personal, with meaning for both the recipient and the giver. Alex and Ani have a 2017 graduation charm bracelet ($28) and Monica Rich Kosann has beautiful necklaces with personal messages ($130 for sterling silver). Two ideas with a bit of home are jewelry personalized with the latitude and longitude of a special place, like Lat and Lo, and Dogeared for necklaces with a home state-shaped charm.
He may not be ready for a ball-out watch quite yet, but that doesn’t mean he can’t boast a sleek timepiece on his wrist. Slightly aged Chromexcel leather will pair just as timelessly with his weekend grub clothes as it will with his business-casual interview garb. The watch features a button stud, so the watch won’t chafe or irritate when he writes out notes.
For students who need to take a break from the books, the Breathe app offers guided deep breaths to assist with meditation or just winding down. Offering all of the same benefits and apps as its predecessors, the Series 4 boasts improved health features, including an ECG monitor which can help the wearer monitor their athletic performance — perfect for helping students remember not to neglect their wellbeing in the midst of midterms — while also alerting them about any heart abnormality, from a low heartbeat to an irregular rhythm. To ensure you can always get in contact with them, the LTE compatibility results in better cellular reception.
Most people know about Mophie now through their Juice Pack line of battery cases. As a college kid, your phone is kind of like your sidekick, and even though the juice packs work great, the cases make your phone bit bulky. Tossing a Powerstation XL into their backpack will ensure that any student won’t suffer from dying phone syndrome. This particular rose gold model offers 10,000 mAh of power capacity, giving users up to five full charges, depending on the device.

54. Toaster Bags—There might not be a handier gift for a college guy living in a dorm than a product that allows him to quickly make a grilled cheese sandwich in the toaster. As an added bonus, most toaster bags are reusable and multi-purpose (i.e., they can also be used in the oven or microwave for all kinds of foods, including pizza, chicken nuggets, and frozen waffles).
25. Streaming Media Player—Streaming media devices are easy to use, convenient, and even portable, which are the kinds of product benefits that a lot of college students desire. Media players offer all kinds of features, including the ability to access video websites and apps like YouTube and Netflix. They can also be used to make Skype calls and go on Facebook. Essentially, they offer a simple and affordable way to turn any TV into a smart TV.
On many college campuses bicycles are the mode of transportation, and helpful accessories are a welcome gift. Vibrelli had a great phone mount that allows for hands-free talking and navigation without the risk of dropping your phone. A rechargeable bike light from Light and Motion makes a nice addition to the gift and helps increase safe biking at night.

Go for something unique. Iowa State University senior Haley Ballou once got her boyfriend a few of his favorite things to please his senses, like his favorite cologne and a restaurant giftcard. “He loved it,” said Ballou. “It was super fun because I wrapped them individually. You can make him guess them with his senses, too.” Consider getting him a candle and letting him guess the scent, or a fuzzy blanket and letting him guess what type of warm item he’s feeling. It’ll turn your typical date night into a fun guessing game.
You probably remember all too well from your days of academia: college is very much a work-hard, play-hard time in your life. Whether he’s blasting his study playlist or his let-loose playlist  on a Friday night, a good set of speakers, like this waterproof, shockproof set by Braven, will be a dorm room essential. With one charge, this speaker boasts 24 hours of run time.
Probably the best bag I have ever had. This bag fits all my college textbooks and it pockets on the outside to fit all of your utensils! Very comfortable to wear, the strap is adjustable, so you can fix it to your liking. Fits well with all types of outfits, I'm always getting compliments on this bag. Do yourself a favor and stop wasting your time because this is the bag your looking for.
Travel-themed and travel-friendly, this compact coloring “book” rolls out, scroll-style, from a compact tote-sized container. The book, which comes with a multicolor marker, includes scenes from Barcelona, New York, Paris, and London, turning coloring time into an educational experience, and hopefully sparking an interest in international adventures.

College is notorious for taking away any semblance of a good night’s sleep. To help make it out of bed on those way-too-early mornings after way-too-late nights, Philips has devised a wake-up light that imitates the sun. 30 minutes before you need to get out of bed, the light will slowly increase the brightness in your room, simulating a natural sunrise. This gradual wake-up is proven to increase your mood, energy, and productivity throughout the day.

I love this lap desk. It's the perfect size for my 14" laptop. The wrist wrest keeps the laptop from sliding off and makes typing a breeze. The only quibble I have is that the pull out shelf for the mouse is too slick. My mouse wants to slide off the thing so I often just use the mouse on the top surface with the laptop. It's a tight squeeze and definitely not something you could do with a 15" laptop. It'd be great if they'd use something with less slide, though that might affect how the drawer slides under the desk.
A simple, but highly useful college accessory is The Sofia + Sam Multi Media Memory Foam Lap Desk.  It is really the perfect workstation for anyone using a laptop, tablet or smart phone on their bed, couch or chair.  It provides a flat, solid, comfortable workspace with a cool and soft memory foam cushion support for hours of use without fatigue.  It includes a built-in ergonomic wrist rest, a slide-out mouse desk that pulls out on either side for left or right-hand use, a handle for easy portability, a tablet slot to support electronic devices, and a USB LED lamp to light the work area.  It is really a completely self-contained portable desk space that your student can use just about anywhere.  The large work area measures 18.5 x 14 x 3.5 inches and easily accommodates laptops up to 15 inches.  Sometimes you just want to sit in a comfortable chair, on your bed, or just anywhere that isn’t your desk while you work and this lap desk makes that possible.  Give a gift of comfort and flexibility that your guy will really appreciate.
Isn’t that the boost everyone needs while pursuing their undergraduate degree? Ahead, you’ll find gifts for college students that will cement your cool sister/aunt/mentor status. And if you find more than one gift that is perfect for someone you know, consider sending it in a care package throughout the year. Speaking from past experience, college students love care packages.
Gone are the days of solo cups and ping-pong balls in the fraternity or sorority house basement. But we’re wiling to bet the new grad doesn’t have many sophisticated cocktail recipes up his sleeve. Up his entertaining game with this clever set of four pint glasses. Each one has measurement lines that provide clear instructions for making four classic cocktails.

29. Water Garden—Are you shopping for a college or university student who is a bit of a nature lover or gardener? Consider getting him or her a water garden. The idea was first introduced with Back to the Roots, a company that produces a water garden containing a small fish tank with an herb garden on top. It is a closed-loop system in which the fish feed the plants and the plants help keep the water clean.
9. Things to use in their new city or at graduate school. Is your graduate moving to Boston, Washington, D.C. or New York City? Consider buying them subway fare cards or even a monthly pass. Other locale-specific gifts, like a Zagat book or Thomas Guide, can be incredibly helpful—and appreciated!—as your graduate starts their new life in a new city.
But on the other hand, they’re working their butt off to get their degree, so why not help them treat themselves with something they wouldn’t buy? Braven makes boomboxes with serious power, and Penny Skateboard creates super slick boards to help them cruise the campus in style. Both these gifts are splurges the normal college student might not ball out for, but the top-of-the-line quality will ensure they have these gifts for years to come.
The top concern for parents sending their kids to college is personal safety. A number of new portable safety devices can help with those worries. Robocopp ($10) for example, is described by the company as a sound grenade. It is a small handheld device that is set off by pulling a plug, releasing a 130-decibel alarm, comparable to an ambulance siren. For a higher price, and small monthly fee, they offer a model that can contact 911. Revolar ($60) is one of a new breed of devices where users can “Check-in” with 1-click, ask for back-up with the 2-clicks (Yellow Alert), and signal an emergency with the 3-clicks (Red Alert). Revolar also has a “Ring Me” feature, which lets wearers call their own phones to provide an excuse to exit a situation.

If there was one thing I often went without in college, it was new clothes. I loved getting new clothes, but I couldn’t always justify the expense. Most college students will be THRILLED with any type of clothing. Stitch Fix is one of my favorite creative ideas for a college student – you can give them a gift card to get styled. Stitch Fix sends you a box of personally curated clothes for the recipient. It’s like having your own personal stylist!
