I was thrilled at the idea of taking notes with this pen and then having them converted to digital text. The Livescribe website says that you can purchase MyScript software separately, and that will convert your notes to digital text. However, after I purchased the pen and tried to buy MyScript, I found out that the software is no longer available for purchase. I contacted Livescribe and they confirmed that they no longer offer a way to convert notes to digital text, even though their website still claims this is possible.

For students who need to take a break from the books, the Breathe app offers guided deep breaths to assist with meditation or just winding down. Offering all of the same benefits and apps as its predecessors, the Series 4 boasts improved health features, including an ECG monitor which can help the wearer monitor their athletic performance — perfect for helping students remember not to neglect their wellbeing in the midst of midterms — while also alerting them about any heart abnormality, from a low heartbeat to an irregular rhythm. To ensure you can always get in contact with them, the LTE compatibility results in better cellular reception.
Make him the coolest dude in campus. “Guys like sports and they like wearing sports stuff, so it’s perfect,” said University of Iowa junior Madison Offenburger. Whether it’s your college mascot or his favorite professional team, your guy will surely sport his gift all day, everyday. Get yourself something to match to make it even cuter. Now that’s what I call #couplegoals.
I often give homemade gifts for Christmas. I make homemade biscotti- almond or chocolate dried cherry and also include homemade hot cocoa mix or Russian tea mix. I have made homemade butterscotch and hot fudge sauce and given them in nice mason jars as gifts. Very cheap to do- buy butter, sugar and cream at Aldi’s. Everyone raves. I have also given wonderful scented soap that I carry home from Florida every year. I have also made Lebkuchen and strudel for gifts. My kids always get lip balm, a toothbrush and a movie pass in their stockings’ – it is a Chrismas tradition. I also go to resale shops and find really neat cookbooks for my daughter. They aren’t high priced and I am recycling them to another cook. I shopped at Sahalie last Christmas and got my DD and DDIL beautiful gloves for ten dollars each- free shipping and no tax!I like to give something that can be used and not end up on the table at the garage sale in a few years.

French presses are a great way to make coffee. With nothing more than water and coffee grounds, you can easily produce a cup of coffee worthy of any Parisian cafe. But until now there have been two big drawbacks: A traditional French Press does not keep coffee warm and the glass carafe is all too easily shattered. Enter the double-wall aluminum French press, which solves both of these problems. This one from SterlingPro is very reasonably priced on Amazon Prime, or we liked the Bodum Columbia in a variety of sizes including a single cup version that makes coffee right in a travel mug. Le Creuset offers a ceramic version (shown) in full array of stunning colors.
I ordered this tool for my son. He is going away to college and I knew that he would need some sort of tools to put together cheap dorm room furniture and hang pictures, etc. I didn't want anything too big so this is perfect and seems to have everything he would need. It is the "Swiss army knife" of tools. It looks like good quality so we will se how it holds up over time. Any place you need tools but don't want to take up space this is useful, like your car or camping.

This is such a fun DIY gift list! I especially love the boho chic jewelry trays and the birch tree art. It can be hard for me to think of a gift that anyone would like, and home decor is a great idea I hadn’t really thought of. This year, my side of the family is going to try $15 or less gifts for each other–something that will be hard to do without trying to make them instead of buy them. Thanks for the ideas!
Have you found yourself a guy not ready to step into the mature world of cologne? Then a video game is perfect for him. But have you really payed any attention to what he’s playing? Saint Joseph University senior suggests getting Call of Duty Black Ops 2 or one of the Fifas. Not only will this make his day, but it will give you the perfect chance for some space. Want to have a girls’ night? Just remind him that he’s so close to that next level up, and you can say goodbye to clingly texts.
You want your kids to heed wise parental advice, but you’re not there to nag them about cleaning their clothes. Solution: a copy of “Do Your Laundry Or You’ll Die Alone.” This beautiful, clever little book by Becky Blades includes 270 wise, wry gems of parental advice, like “You can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats the server at Applebees.” (The newer hardback version is available for $9.29 on Amazon.)
I also understand we don’t all have hours and hours of leisure time to “craft and make” to our heart’s content. Don’t worry! These ideas aren’t the sort of gifts that will have you sewing and quilting for weeks or meticulously handcrafting with tweezers and teeny-tiny paintbrushes like an elf! These DIY ideas are fast and many can be made in “bulk,” so you can have gifts for several people on your list.
They say the way to a man’s heart is food, so why not make him his favorite meal for a romantic date over Christmas break? This is the perfect chance to make your favorite recipe or show him how you pay attention to what he orders at your favorite restaurant. You can both save some money and bond over chopping carrots. The real question is whether or not you let him bustle around next to the warm oven alongside you or surprise him when he walks in the door with the aroma of an already prepared meal.
This mirror is great! I use it for shaving every time I take a shower. It stays relatively fog free, I just take my detachable shower head and spray the face and back of the mirror with hot water right before I start shaving. I have noticed it will still fog up from my breath, which is why I docked it a star, but that only happens when I try to get close to the mirror near the end of my shave.

Once the daily PE classes or high school sports teams wind down, it becomes all too easy for college students to lower their level of physical activity. Sometimes it takes a bribe, in the form of a tech gadget they covet, to get them moving again. Some gift options include, a fitness tracker (Fitbits start at $100) Bluetooth earbuds (The Wirecutter recommends the $100 Jlab Epic 2), insulated water bottles like S’ip by S’Well ($25 each) or a new gym bag.
Street style is a source of endless inspiration, and this book, which highlights fashionable women in New York, Paris, Melbourne, Tokyo, Madrid, and London, is full of ideas. For teens, perhaps the most important lesson of this book is that style is individual, and expressing yourself and doing your own thing is always cooler than following the crowd.

For her, it's a cool piece of wearable tech to rock in her new office. For you, it's an investment in her health and peace of mind. This top-of-the-line smartwatch offers virtual coaching for her workouts and even holds more than 300 songs for her exercise soundtrack. The GPS-enabled device holds a 4-day charge, so she can track her bicycle commutes and her weekend runs without losing battery life.
2. Shadow box. Many craft and frame stores offer "shadow boxes": a box that has one side made of glass (made to look like a frame) that you can hang on a wall. Create a special one tailored just for your graduate—with mementos, college insignia, and even sports paraphernalia, if appropriate. As an added bonus, shadow boxes work well in an office or in your graduate's new apartment.
You wouldn’t think, but an engraved flask is a really thoughtful gift that your boyfriend will enjoy. Alcohol and thoughtfulness? Pretty uncommon pairs,  but an engraved flask is a gift that your boyfriend will enjoy. He’ll know you really care about him from the individualized engraving, and he’ll be able to get his drink on at the same time. Perfect for those BYOB parties and date functions you always get invited to.

A cookbook is always a good gift for a beginner cook, and Amanda Cohen, chef and owner of Manhattan’s Dirt Candy, relied on this one when she was in college. “Will you ever cook from it? Well, I did when I was in university, and the approachable recipes were a great way to ease me into the kitchen,” she said, adding, “And for me, it’s almost like a scrapbook, reminding me of when I tried to make Gypsy Soup, of hours spent poring over the recipes for Vegetable and Walnut Pate, Stuffed Eggplant, and Lentil burgers, trying to figure out how to tweak these dishes to make them better, learning from what they were doing, and slowly, page by page, without even knowing it, becoming a chef.”
