Vintage is all the rage with college students, and what is a bigger throwback than sipping from a copper mug? While these mugs are associated with the eponymous cocktail, they are perfect for any cold drink and, unlike glassware, are virtually indestructible. And they’re available from dozens of retailers, many with a monogram option. Another throwback popular with college students are Mason jar glasses. Either an actual set of Ball Mason Jars (the most inexpensive set of glasses you will ever buy) or these that have been modified with handles.
When I found myself suddenly single with 2 small children, I had to think hard about gifts. I had no money. I started what we call an envelope Christmas I made the kids an envelope for every week of the year. Each week they got to open an envelope, which contained something special they got to do with me. It cost very little. It was just time together. Baking, going to the park, etc. Now my kids are in their 20s and still call to make sure they’re going to get their envelopes! Now they get one a month. They include anything from a home cooked meal, to a girls’ day out.
So when the holidays roll around, gifts can be a godsend — if they're useful and thoughtful. Those uses can range from fun, like card games, to practical, like noise-canceling headphones for the library, backpacks that can go from class to internship, and a laundry hamper with adjustable straps so they don't have to drag their hamper down the dorm steps.
Never lose your keys or wallets again. With Tile, you can easily track the location of your most valuable possessions right from your smartphone. Just click the “Find My Tile” button on the app, and your tile will start beeping until you can find it up. Can’t hear the beeping? A real-time map will show you where your keys are. Can’t find your phone? Press the tile and it will put out a locator symbol on your phone.

1. Care packages—Do-it-yourself care packages for students can include things like socks, single-serve soups, beauty or grooming products, gift cards, or even cold, hard cash. Basically, anything you think the student in your life will appreciate is fair game. The amount you spend is up to you. (If you're short on time, you might want to consider a pre-packaged gift basket full of goodies.)
Have you blessed her with grandchildren? If you have, then you have already given her the greatest gift of all, but she still definitely wouldn’t mind additional evidence of the existence of those adorable moppets. She can use it to taunt Barb, her workplace nemesis whose no-good son Brad has yet to even have a serious girlfriend. Giving someone a picture of yourself may seem narcissistic, but, trust me, your Mom won’t think so.

Laptops are one of the most popular and useful gifts for graduating teens. Some college bookstores have deals that come with tech support but, before you make a final decision, see what student discounts you can get from Apple, Microsoft, and Best Buy. When shopping for laptops, or other items from national retailers, parents should be aware that they can generally use college student discounts even if their student does not yet have a college ID card. Retailers often ask for a college email address that many schools issue over the summer, and some will give discounts with a college acceptance letter. Consumer Reports recommends the Acer Spin 1 which retails for about $250. MacBooks with enough memory and computing power for undergraduates start at about $1,100.

She’ll fill out a style questionnaire and be matched with a personal stylist, who will send her an assortment of items to choose from. Give a gift card to cover what she decided to keep.
My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was young, and I pull out that skill each Christmas. I’ve learned to make inexpensive–but really cute–scarves and hats. Each Christmas season I look forward to pulling out my bag of yarn, putting on a Christmas movie, and crocheting away in the evenings. Crocheting and knitting are simple skills anyone can learn!

It is that time of year where everyone is looking for the perfect gift for loved ones, some of us are poor or don't know what to get that special person. You want your kids to heed wise parental advice, but you’re not there to nag them about cleaning their clothes. Solution: a copy of “Do Your Laundry Or You’ll Die Alone.” This beautiful, clever little book by Becky Blades includes 270 wise, wry gems of parental advice, like “You can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats the server at Applebees.” (The newer hardback version is available for $9.29 on Amazon.)
Whether it’s a family heirloom or a new gift, a piece of jewelry can be deeply personal, with meaning for both the recipient and the giver. Alex and Ani have a 2017 graduation charm bracelet ($28) and Monica Rich Kosann has beautiful necklaces with personal messages ($130 for sterling silver). Two ideas with a bit of home are jewelry personalized with the latitude and longitude of a special place, like Lat and Lo, and Dogeared for necklaces with a home state-shaped charm.
Thanks for sharing such amazing gift ideas. Well this Christmas season I spent so much time in thinking about gifts but I couldn’t think of anything different. Then I decided to give Himalayan salt lamps as a gift to my loved ones. These lamps are so unique and beautiful. I just love them for myself so I thought that it would be a great thing to give to my loved ones. I got them from ittefaqco.

I also docked the mirror because it isn't obvious how to work the suction cup mechanism. I had to watch the very informative video on how to do it. Ideally it would have been obvious without the video. I will say this, the suction holds quite well, and hasn't fallen off yet! That's especially important because the only surface suitable for the mirror to stick to is the inside of the glass shower door. I have to move the door (and the mirror) to get into and out of the shower. The mirror hasn't budged, and I haven't had to reapply the suction cup to the door at all. Good job!
Polaroid ZIP Mobile Printer Remember how much fun Polaroid photos were? Well, they are only more fun now that the photos can be edited before printing. I purchased the XL version of this bag on May, 11 2015 and I have carried it nearly every day since. I bought this to replace a similar messenger bag made by Rapid Dominance, because I was searching for something with a bit more of a vintage style. I researched quite a few different bags before deciding on this particular model. The bag arrived within a few days of my order, it was boxed and bagged inside the box. I was immediately amazed by the quality of the bag. The size was perfect at 17.3". I excitedly began jamming my daily stuff into the new bag. It easily holds my binder, and a variety of small things that I carry daily. I do not use this bag for transporting any type of laptop, so I cannot speak to using it for that purpose.

Think of the Amazon Echo Dot like the ultimate study companion. Ask the hands-free, voice-activated device any question, be it study questions or what the hockey score is, and Amazon’s Alexa AI will search the web to get you the answer. Plus, with a few simple words, the Echo Dot can control any lights in your house, set an alarm, notify you of your schedule, quiz you on homework, or Google your study qualms.
I own both the Livescribe 3 and the Echo pen from Livescribe. I'm not interested in all the features, so I'll just write about what I've focused on doing: transforming handwriting in ink in my notebook to editable text in a Word document. BOTH PENS CAN DO THIS. Though Livescribe 3 does an extraordinary job of keeping this information from you. Livescribe all but sabotages itself with its terrible web site and near useless manuals.
In my unscientific but thorough survey of gift ideas for college students, I would say some 94.8 percent of all college students have, at some point, either received a copy of Dr. Seuss’s Oh, The Places You’ll Go or had it quoted at them. It’s a classic read, but as far as gifts for college students go, it’s clichéd — and you can give a practical, useful, and unique gift to a college student that’s better than that. To make things a little easier, I spoke with actual college students about the most memorable gifts they’ve ever received, the gear and gadgets they use every day, and the items on their wish lists to find the best gifts for college freshmen, gifts for college graduates, and all the students in between.
