I love, love these ideas! My son is special needs, and has SO many aids and people that help him at school. I want to recognize them all at Christmas time, but it can get so expensive! Thank you so much for these fun ideas that are inexpensive, but don’t feel “cheap”. I especially love the Red Box movie night and the Merry Kissmas gift. I’ll be able to thank everyone this year without breaking the bank.
9. Things to use in their new city or at graduate school. Is your graduate moving to Boston, Washington, D.C. or New York City? Consider buying them subway fare cards or even a monthly pass. Other locale-specific gifts, like a Zagat book or Thomas Guide, can be incredibly helpful—and appreciated!—as your graduate starts their new life in a new city.
What is a Smart Pen?  It’s the modern way to take notes in class.  Pens like the Livescribe 2GB Echo Smartpen record everything your student writes and hears either together or separately.  They can tap anywhere on their notes taken on Livescribe Dot paper to replay the audio from that exact moment or transfer notes and audio to their Mac or Windows PC for later review, organization, and sharing.  They can even search their notes for fast location of critical sections.  Sharing is easy via email or other services.  They need to use special paper, but that’s a small drawback compared to how helpful this form of note-taking can be to students.  With all the Livescribe Dot paper formats, your student is sure to find one that is best for them including college-ruled notebooks, lined journals, blank journals, mini journals, A5-sized notebooks, grid notebooks, flip notepads, and even sticky notes.  They can even print their own dot paper for free using the Echo Desktop application.  With 2GB of memory, there is plenty of room for notes or audio including up to 200 hours of audio or thousands of pages of notes.  It comes with a 50-page tarter notebook, the Echo Desktop software, a micro USB cable, 2 ink cartridges, and a smartpen cap.  Give the gift that makes the most difficult part of college (other than the tests and quizzes) easier for them.

I was thrilled at the idea of taking notes with this pen and then having them converted to digital text. The Livescribe website says that you can purchase MyScript software separately, and that will convert your notes to digital text. However, after I purchased the pen and tried to buy MyScript, I found out that the software is no longer available for purchase. I contacted Livescribe and they confirmed that they no longer offer a way to convert notes to digital text, even though their website still claims this is possible.
To go with the bigger phones up there, it’s a good idea to toss in something a little more compact, at a price point that you won’t lament if they’re left behind at class. The Symphonize NRG 3.0 buds are super unique, hand-crafted wood headphones with a tangle-free cable, goldplated jack and noise-isolated sound. They’re the perfect happy medium between earbuds that look cool, but are also universal enough to take on a run. Six pairs of custom fit silicone tips will provide optimal comfort, while the in-line microphone makes it easy to adjust volume, skip tracks, activate voice control and answer phone calls in a jiffy.
Whether your kid is saving money by turning down the heat or surviving in a drafty dorm room, one of these throws is great for wrapping up while studying or watching TV or layering on a bed at night. Faux fur is very popular, but no one ever went wrong with cashmere. Pottery Barn has a great selection at under $50 as do many other retailers, and the monogram option is also available.
Between tuition, textbooks, groceries, and, most importantly, the daily coffee fund, the bills can add up, not leaving lots of room for college students to let loose. Consider a practical gift, one that will make their studying a little less stressful or make their downtime a little more fun. A fun subscription service, like Graze, that delivers delicious, healthy study snacks every other week, or MeUndies, that delivers uber-comfy new underwear every month, will help make their life easier so they can get back to the books.
1. Care packages—Do-it-yourself care packages for students can include things like socks, single-serve soups, beauty or grooming products, gift cards, or even cold, hard cash. Basically, anything you think the student in your life will appreciate is fair game. The amount you spend is up to you. (If you're short on time, you might want to consider a pre-packaged gift basket full of goodies.)
Personalization adds meaning to every gift, regardless of your budget. Our assortment of non-expensive Christmas gifts is filled with customizable items for every person on your list. Turn your favorite photo into a beautiful memento your special someone can cherish for a lifetime, or shop for a personalized Christmas ornament that will be sure to impress anyone. Whether you’re looking for metal signage to adorn his man cave or you’re more interested in finding floral-inspired keepsake boxes for her favorite jewelry, you can put your own spin on a variety of beautiful items. We even have the Christmas gifts for pets!

11. Briefcase or nice bag. While a briefcase is the traditional gift for a law school graduate, it can also be a great gift for any college graduate. Don't worry about needing to buy the nicest, brand-name, all-leather bag you can find, either; messenger bags and other options might work, too, depending on your graduate's career field and geographic location.

The student life isn’t exactly known for being full of culinary excellence (cue memories of mac and cheese and greasy pizza) and for the student who isn’t as adept in the kitchen, cooking can be intimidating. The Starving Students cookbook is full of page after page of recipes for the new chef, with advice on simple things like how to scramble eggs or make simple vegetarian dinners.
So when the holidays roll around, gifts can be a godsend — if they're useful and thoughtful. Those uses can range from fun, like card games, to practical, like noise-canceling headphones for the library, backpacks that can go from class to internship, and a laundry hamper with adjustable straps so they don't have to drag their hamper down the dorm steps.

Does your boyfriend love solving puzzles? Instead of getting a puzzle with dolphins or cars, reach for a more heartfelt gift. Putting your picture on it through websites like Shutterfly makes the personal gift even more special. “I made a collage of us in puzzle form,” said Betty Straub, a junior at Creighton University. “We put it together with each other and it was so much fun.” Say hello to the ultimate date-night activity, paired with a bottle of wine.
It's common for elementary and high school teachers to get bulk gifts for students such as notebooks or personalized pencils, but even at the college level, some instructors like to give their students a little something at Christmas or at the end of a term. Consumable treats are the best bet for student gifts: Providing special in-class snacks like chocolates, cookies, or bags of popcorn can bring a smile to college students' faces and let them know their teachers appreciate their hard work.
This is THE classic book for college students that covers any situation they may find themselves in during their four years of school. Excellent for both college guys and girls, we trust author Harlan Cohen to guide your student in the right direction. Now in it’s 7th edition, this is an excellent gift for both seniors and those already in college.

This giant bean bag is big enough for two, but it’s so comfortable they may not want to share it. Study in luxury or take a long nap between exams. Either way, we promise they’ll find a use for this that they soon can’t live without. But beware: just like their last questionable relationship, people have been known to disappear into these for months.
